Call To Worship

Prayer:

Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow Your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that You have prepared for those who truly love You; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with You and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

SONG: ROCK OF AGES

Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood, From Thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure, Save from wrath and make me pure.

Not the labor of my hands, Can fulfill Thy law’s commands
Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone, Thou must save, and save alone.

Nothing in my hands I bring, Simply to the cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress, Helpless, look to Thee for grace:
Foul, I to the fountain fly, Wash me, Savior, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath, When mine eyes shall close in death,
When I soar to worlds unknown, See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee.

Corporate Prayer

READING OF THE WORD – Romans 1:1-6

At the conclusion of the reading, the speaker will say, “The Word of the Lord,” to which we all reply:
Thanks Be To God

SONG: THERE IS A FOUNTAIN

There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel’s veins;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains:
Lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.

Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood shall never lose its power,
Till all the ransomed ones of God be saved, to sin no more
Be saved, to sin no more, be saved, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed ones of God, be saved to sin no more.

E’er since by faith I saw the stream Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die
And shall be till I die, and shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die.

When this poor lisping, stammering tongue lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song, I’ll sing Thy power to save
I’ll sing Thy power to save, I’ll sing Thy power to save;
Then in a nobler, sweeter song, I’ll sing Thy power to save.

SONG: YET NOT I BUT THROUGH CHRIST IN ME

What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer,
There is no more for heaven now to give
He is my joy, my righteousness, and freedom
My steadfast love, my deep and boundless peace
To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
For my life is wholly bound to His
Oh how strange and divine, I can sing, “All is mine!”
Yet not I, but through Christ in me

The night is dark, but I am not forsaken
For by my side, the Savior He will stay
I labour on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need, His power is displayed
To this I hold, my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley He will lead
Oh the night has been won, and I shall overcome!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me

No fate I dread, I know I am forgiven
The future sure, the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And He was raised to overthrow the grave
To this I hold, my sin has been defeated
Jesus now and ever is my plea
Oh the chains are released, I can sing, “I am free!”
Yet not I, but through Christ in me

With every breath, I long to follow Jesus
For He has said that He will bring me home
And day by day I know He will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne
To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to Him
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat:
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!

Sermon: The Promise of Power In Christ (1 Corinthians 2:1-5)

Communion

SONG: LIVING HOPE

How great the chasm that lay between us, how high the mountain I could not climb.
In desperation, I turned to heaven and spoke Your name into the night.
Then through the darkness, Your loving-kindness tore through the shadows of my soul.
The work is finished, the end is written; Jesus Christ, my living hope

Who could imagine so great a mercy? What heart could fathom such boundless grace?
The God of ages stepped down from glory to wear my sin and bear my shame.
The cross has spoken, I am forgiven. The King of kings calls me His own.
Beautiful Savior, I'm Yours forever; Jesus Christ, my living hope.

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain, there’s salvation in Your name;
Jesus Christ, my living hope!

Then came the morning that sealed the promise,
Your buried body began to breathe.
Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion
declared the grave has no claim on me. (repeat)

Jesus, Yours is the victory!

DOXOLOGY

Our treasures fame and riches made will wither like grass just the same
The things of earth like dust and sand will pass through all our clutching hand
Our hope is found in Jesus Christ, forevermore He is our prize
Reconciled the souls of man, forgiveness from the Father’s hand
And with the Spirit we are free, and soon all tribes and tongues shall sing,
”Glory be to Christ our King and the Holy Trinity!”

Benediction:

May we be compelled by the love of God, the gospel of Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit to pursue His mission for our good and His glory.
