Call To Worship - Exodus 15:1-2

Prayer:

Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SONG: Your Love Never Fails

Nothing can separate, even if I ran away
Your love never fails
I know I still make mistakes, but You have new mercies for me everyday,
Your love never fails

You stay the same through the ages, Your love never changes
There may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning
And when the oceans rage, I don't have to be afraid
Because I know that You love me
Your love never fails

The wind is strong and the water's deep, but I'm not alone here in these open seas
Cause Your love never fails
The chasm is far too wide. I never thought I'd reach the other side,
but Your love never fails

You make all things work together for my good.

GENERAL CONFESSION

To be read aloud, together:

Almighty and most merciful Father,
We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, which confess their faults. Restore thou them that are penitent; according to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of thy holy name. Amen.

READING OF THE WORD – James 1:12-15

At the conclusion of the reading, the speaker will say, “The Word of the Lord,” to which we all reply:
Thanks Be To God

SONG: Great Are You Lord

You give life, You are love, You bring light to the darkness
You give hope, You restore, Every heart that is broken
Great are You, Lord

It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise, we pour out our praise
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only

All the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing
Great are You, Lord

Song: He Will Hold Me Fast

When I fear my faith will fail, Christ will hold me fast;
When the tempter would prevail, He will hold me fast.
I could never keep my hold Through life’s fearful path;
For my love is often cold; He must hold me fast.

He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast;
For my Savior loves me so, He will hold me fast.

Those He saves are His delight, Christ will hold me fast;
Precious in His holy sight, He will hold me fast.
He’ll not let my soul be lost; His promises shall last;
Bought by Him at such a cost, He will hold me fast.

For my life He bled and died, Christ will hold me fast;
Justice has been satisfied; He will hold me fast.
Raised with Him to endless life, He will hold me fast
‘Till our faith is turned to sight When He comes at last!

Sermon: The Promise of Escape (1 Corinthians 10:12-13)

Communion

SONG: Living Hope

How great the chasm that lay between us, how high the mountain I could not climb.
In desperation, I turned to heaven and spoke Your name into the night.
Then through the darkness, Your loving-kindness tore through the shadows of my soul.
The work is finished, the end is written; Jesus Christ, my living hope

Who could imagine so great a mercy? What heart could fathom such boundless grace?
The God of ages stepped down from glory to wear my sin and bear my shame.
The cross has spoken, I am forgiven. The King of kings calls me His own.
Beautiful Savior, I'm Yours forever; Jesus Christ, my living hope.

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain, there’s salvation in Your name;
Jesus Christ, my living hope!

Then came the morning that sealed the promise,
Your buried body began to breathe.
Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion
declared the grave has no claim on me. (repeat)

Jesus, Yours is the victory!

Benediction:

May we be compelled by the love of God, the gospel of Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit to pursue His mission for our good and His glory.
