Call To Worship

Prayer:

Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SONG: for the beauty of the earth

For the beauty of the earth
For the beauty of the skies
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies

Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise

SONG: Come thou fount

Come thou fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
I'll praise the mount I'm fixed upon it
Mount of thy redeeming love

Hitherto Thy love has blessed me
Thou has brought me to this place
And I know Thy hand will bring me
Safely home by Thy good grace
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He, to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood

Oh to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart, oh take and seal it
Seal it for They courts above

Oh that day when freed from sinning
I shall see thy lovely face
Full arrayed in blood-washed linen
How I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace
Come, my Lord, no longer tarry
Bring Thy promises to pass
For I know Thy pow’r will keep me
Till I’m home with Thee at last

GENERAL CONFESSION

To be read aloud, together:

Almighty and most merciful Father,
We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, which confess their faults. Restore thou them that are penitent; according to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for His sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of thy holy name. Amen.

READING OF THE WORD - romans 6:5-14

At the conclusion of the reading, the speaker will say, “The Word of the Lord,” to which we all reply:
Thanks Be To God

SONG: WE WILL NOT BE SHAKEN

For We trust in our God
And through his unfailing love
We will not be shaken
We will not be shaken
We will not be shaken

For We trust in our God
And through his unfailing love
We will not be shaken
We will not be shaken
We will not be shaken

Though the battle rages
We will stand in the fight
Though the armies rise up against
Us on all sides,
We will not be shaken
We will not be shaken
We will not be shaken

For in the hour of our
Darkest day,
We will not tremble,
We won't be afraid.
Hope is rising like the light of Dawn.
Our God is for us,
He has Overcome!

All those against Him will fall
For our God is stronger
He can do all things
No higher name we can call
For Jesus is greater
We can do all things

SONG: You alone

When this life has overwhelmed me, and I feel like givin' up
I will cling to all You've promised, it will always be enough

When the world around me crumbles, and it's hard to understand
I will run to You my shelter, I am safe within Your hands

Oh, You are my help forever

I will not fear, God, You are with me
I know You're near, You'll never leave me
I will trust in You alone

When I'm broken into silence, I can hear You whispering
"You're not alone here in these trials, I will hold you faithfully"

Oh, You are my help forever

I will not fear, God, You are with me
I know You're near, You'll never leave me
I will trust in You alone
And when my heart and strength have failed me
My God, You won't, Your name is mighty
I will trust in You alone

Oh, You are a fortress for the weak
The strength that carries me, when I am on my knees
The cross reminds my heart to trust
Your faithfulness and love will always be enough

Sermon - 2 Timothy 2:8-13
”The comfort of god’s faithfulness”

Communion

SONG: abide with me

Abide with me: fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Thou on my head, in early youth didst smile;
And, though rebellious, and perverse meanwhile,
Thou hast not left me, though I oft left Thee,
On to the close Lord, abide with me.

I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like thyself my guide and strength can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.

I fear no foe with thee at hand to bless,
ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if thou abide with me.

Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes.
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Benediction:

May we be compelled by the love of God, the gospel of Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit to pursue His mission for our good and His glory.
