Call To Worship

Prayer:

Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SONG: KING OF KINGS

In the darkness we were waiting
Without hope, without light
'Til from Heaven You came running
There was mercy in Your eyes
To fulfill the law and prophets
To a virgin came the Word
From a throne of endless glory
To a cradle in the dirt

Praise the Father, praise the Son
Praise the Spirit, three in one
God of glory, Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings

To reveal the kingdom coming
And to reconcile the lost
To redeem the whole creation
You did not despise the cross
For even in your suffering
You saw to the other side
Knowing this was our salvation
Jesus for our sake You died

And the morning that You rose
All of Heaven held its breath
Till that stone was moved for good
For the Lamb had conquered death
And the dead rose from their tombs
And the angels stood in awe
For the souls of all who'd come
To the Father are restored

And the church of Christ was born
Then the Spirit lit the flame
Now this gospel truth of old
Shall not kneel, shall not fade
By His blood and in His name
In His freedom I am free
For the love of Jesus Christ
Who has resurrected me

GENERAL CONFESSION

To be read aloud, together:

Almighty and most merciful Father,
We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, which confess their faults. Restore thou them that are penitent; according to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for His sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of thy holy name. Amen.

Reading of the Word - Matthew 22:34-40

At the conclusion of the reading, the speaker will say, “The Word of the Lord,” to which we all reply:
Thanks Be To God

SONG: GREAT ARE YOU LORD

You give life, You are love, You bring light to the darkness
You give hope, You restore, Every heart that is broken
Great are You, Lord

It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise, we pour out our praise
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only

All the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing
Great are You, Lord

SONG: CHRIST THE SURE AND STEADY ANCHOR

Christ the sure and steady Anchor in the fury of the storm
When the winds of doubt blow through me and my sails have all been torn
In the suffering, in the sorrow, when my sinking hopes are few
I will hold fast to the Anchor, it will never be removed

Christ the sure and steady Anchor while the tempest rages on
When temptation claims the battle and it seems the night has won
Deeper still then goes the Anchor though I justly stand accused
I will hold fast to the Anchor, it shall never be removed

Christ the sure and steady Anchor through the fields of unbelief
Hopeless somehow O my soul now lift your eyes to Calvary
This my ballast of assurance, see His love forever proved
All my hope is in the Anchor, it shall never be removed

Christ the sure and steady Anchor as we face the wave of death
When these trials give way to glory as we draw our final breath
We will cross that great horizon clouds behind and life secured
And the calm will be the better for the storms that we endured

Christ the shore of our salvation ever faithful ever true
We will hold fast to the Anchor, it shall never be removed

Sermon - NeHemIah 1:1-2-8

A Call To Passion

Communion

SONG: GIVE ME FAITH

I need You, to soften my heart and break me apart
I need You, to open my eyes, to see that You're shaping my life

All I am, I surrender
Give me faith to trust what You say
That You're good and Your love is great
I'm broken inside, I give You my life

I need You, to soften my heart and break me apart
I need You, to pierce through the dark and cleanse every part of me

I may be weak but Your Spirit's strong in me
My flesh may fail, but my God, You never will

Benediction:

May we be compelled by the love of God, the gospel of Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit to pursue His mission for our good and His glory.
